“Out to Pasture” is reminiscent of early times in Rockwall where pioneers worked through blood, sweat and tears to build a better life. This forgotten tractor sits behind the Rockwall Historical Society Bailey House.

This painting began with a photograph taken looking straight up at the Rockwall Historic Museum windmill, its blades cutting across a sky heavy with cloud. I was drawn to the way the structure — rusted, built for function.

Rust In The Wind
“Rust in the Wind”. The Hartman Windmill built in 1866 to supply water to the Rockwall Cotton Gins. The mill was run by James and son, Augusta Hartman, originally from Tennessee at the end of the Civil War. It now sits at the Rockwall County Historical Museum, at Harry Meyers Park, Rockwall Texas.
